Orlie Weitzman
Orlie Weitzman is a junior at the University of Chicago Lab School. She loves writing and is the Opinion Editor of the award-winning student newspaper, the U-High Midway. She recently co-ran a workshop “Counterspeech to Combat Holocaust Denial” as part of her school’s social justice week. Orlie co-founded her school’s Poets Society, and her poetry won a gold key award in the regional Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. She is an assistant teacher for a creative movement dance class and a song leader at Minyan Katan, a service for the youngest members of her family’s synagogue, Congregation Rodfei Zedek. In her spare time, Orlie loves exploring the city with her friends.
