Gilmore Girls has real flaws, but mainstream criticism of Lorelai and Rory shows normalized sexism within critiques instead of acknowledging problems with privilege and diversity.  

Resisting the pressure to take a stance allowed me to listen first and act second, fostering dialogue within my community and shaping my leadership style.

I realize now that my first steps in participating in tikkun olam were those hours spent watching Sesame Street, those conversations with my mother in the car, and now the countless articles I’ve read since.

The communal summer camp hangers passed hands, traveled across state lines, and held dresses for girls who just wanted to feel beautiful with the help of their friends.
