Are the Fountainheads my answer?

Last week after the release of Aish's terrible "Chanukah Jewish Rock of Ages" video, I asked: Where are the progressive Jewish viral videos? Are the Ein Prat Fountainheads my answer?

According to their website, the Fountainheads are a group of young Israeli singers, dancers, and artists, who have have joined forces to create new Jewish artistic content for today's Jewish world. Their Rosh Hashanah video, "Dip Your Apple," (sung to the tune of Shakira's "Waka Waka")received nearly two million views on Youtube. The performers are all graduates and students of the Ein Prat Academy for Leadership, which brings together Israeli students, women and men, secular and religious, from across the political spectrum.

Shani Lachmish, graduate of Ein Prat and one of the lead singers of the group, told Shalom Life:

Our goal is to produce fun and meaningful music videos that put smiles on people's faces and help them connect with their Jewishness in new ways. We also want to showcase the diverse, vibrant and highly-engaged Israeli-Jewish identity that is emerging in our generation of Israelis today.

I wonder if there are any North American groups doing similar work making videos. If you have any to share, link them in the comments!

Also: The Fountainheads will be performing in New York City December 17, Greenwhich, CT, December 18, Newton, MA December 20, and Portland, ME, December 21. Check their website for details.

Double your impact to amplify Jewish women’s stories—
All gifts matched up to $35,000

Before you close this article, please consider supporting the Jewish Women’s Archive and uplifting Jewish women’s voices.

At JWA, we preserve the voices of Jewish women and gender-expansive people past and present, share them freely with millions online, and empower a new generation of Jewish feminists to lead with courage, creativity, and conviction.

But none of this happens without you. JWA is an independent nonprofit— we rely on people, like you, who believe that history belongs to all of us and that the voices of Jewish women must remain powerful, and heard.

This month, a generous JWA board member will match every gift dollar for dollar—up to $35,000—through June 30. Your contribution goes twice as far right now.

Every contribution—no matter the size—helps us document, teach, and inspire through Jewish women’s stories.

It takes less than a minute to make a difference.
